Is reselling allowed on Vinted UK? What Vinted's rules say

Vinted's own UK terms and help pages, quoted and dated, in three parts: reselling for profit, Vinted Pro, and bots, automation and relisting. This page just quotes Vinted, though we may earn from some referral links elsewhere on the site.

Quick answer

Per Vinted UK (19 Oct 2026): standard accounts can't be used to buy and resell for profit. Anyone selling to make a profit needs a free Vinted Pro account, which requires business registration. New items bought to resell aren't allowed for anyone, Pro included. External tools such as bots, and deleting and re-listing items in bulk, are banned unless Vinted allows them.

This page explains Vinted's published rules. It isn't legal or tax advice.

What Vinted counts as reselling

Buying to resell for profit

Vinted's UK commercial selling help page says "standard accounts can't be used to sell items professionally. This includes buying or sourcing items and reselling them at a profit." It adds: "If you have a legal status as a business, act on behalf of one, or sell on Vinted to make a profit, you need to sign up as a Pro seller."

The User Terms (version applicable from 8 Oct 2026, read 19 Oct 2026) say the same in general terms: you use the services "for your personal benefit only and not for any professional purposes (unless you are buying as a Pro Seller)".

New stock, bulk and dropshipping

The help page is explicit: "You can't sell new items bought specifically to resell. This includes stock from wholesalers, bulk orders, or items bought from retail stores to resell for a profit. This rule applies to everyone, including Vinted Pro sellers." It also says "Listing new items as second-hand is not allowed", and that Pro sellers may not sell "any new or custom handmade goods".

The terms add that an item must "not be something you originally purchased in bulk or as a dropship product (as in, you don't physically have the Item) with a low resale value".

What's still fine

Clearing out your own wardrobe is what standard accounts are for. Vinted's help page says new items such as gifts are allowed as long as you originally bought or acquired them for your own personal use.

Vinted Pro: the route for business sellers

Vinted's UK Pro page says: "If you want to sell a high volume of items on Vinted (more than just clearing out your closet!), you need to sign up as a professional seller."

  • Eligibility: "you need to be registered as a business. Sole traders, non-profit organisations, and companies are eligible to sign up."
  • Sign-up: you provide your company registration number and other business details. Sole traders can choose whether to keep these private on their profile.
  • Cost: "Vinted Pro is entirely free", and you can list as many second-hand items as you like at no cost.
  • Two accounts: "you can have a standard account and a separate Pro account."

Note that Vinted's US help pages say Pro isn't available there. Everything above is from the UK site.

Bots, automation and relisting

External software tools

Under "You must not", Vinted's terms list: use "any kind of external software tools (including but not limited to: bots, scraping programs, crawling programs, spiders) when registering on the Site and/or when using the Site and/or Services (including but not limited to: for the purpose of promoting Items, adding Items to favourite), unless such a use is authorised, offered or in any other way allowed by us". They also ban data mining, screen scraping and crawling any part of the site.

That covers monitors and auto-buy bots, and the extensions that automate your own wardrobe.

Deleting and relisting

The terms say you must not "delete and re-list the same Item multiple times or multiple Items in bulk". This is directly relevant to auto-repost tools, which work by deleting and recreating listings.

Mass messages and offers

The terms also ban "unsolicited or mass messages that are sent to 5 or more Users". Tools that send automatic messages or offers to people who favourite your items work in this area, so read the wording carefully.

What tool makers report

Crosslist, a crosslisting tool, wrote on 2 Oct 2026 that Vinted "has stepped up detection of automated activity" and that some users of automation tools had "temporary 24-hour suspensions". It said it hadn't seen permanent bans. It closed Vinted to new accounts on 23 Sep 2026: see Crosslist Vinted alternatives. That's one vendor's account, not Vinted's.

What Vinted can do if you break the rules

Vinted's terms say its "corrective actions can include sending you a warning or removing an Item from the Catalogue, hiding or removing Content, blocking a feature on your Account (like messages), blocking temporarily or definitively your Account." They add that "whatever action we take will be proportional to the violation".

What Vinted charges

Vinted's UK help page on fees says "There are no selling fees on Vinted". Buyers pay a "Vinted fee", which Vinted's price list (last updated 08.10.2026) describes as "usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8". Read 19 Oct 2026; check the current price list before you price items.

Tax: a separate question

Vinted's rules and UK tax are different things. Two gov.uk pages are the place to start:

Platform reporting doesn't by itself mean you owe tax, and selling your own used items is different from trading. Check gov.uk or an adviser for your situation.

If you use tools anyway: a neutral checklist

  1. Read the current terms. The version we quoted was headed "New version applicable from 08-10-2026". Check whether it has changed.
  2. Know the tool runs on your account. Browser extensions act as you, using your logged-in session, so any action they take is yours.
  3. Check your account type. If you're buying to resell, Vinted says that's Pro territory.
  4. Accept the risk is yours. No tool can promise your account won't be limited or blocked.

Tools we list: Vinted bots and monitors, Vinted seller automation, Dotb vs Rello, crosslisters that support Vinted, and our general risk note.
